Usually I'll be rounding up my columns or articles for The Laker within a given calendar month, but in this case (and the next one) I'm going broader because a subject spans a couple columns in different months. For August and September, that's On Golden Pond - perhaps the most famous film shot in New Hampshire's Lakes region (which The Laker services). I'd never seen the beloved 1981 film starring Henry Fonda, Katharine Hepburn, and Jane Fonda before this viewing and was intrigued by the darkness mixed in with the famed sentimentality. I also dug into the history of On Golden Pond's production, reception and legacy, which consumes all of the first column (the second is my personal review). Prior to those two columns, my "Scene and Heard" topics were the three remaining drive-in theaters in the state, as well as the many that have disappeared.
